HOW IT ALL STARTED..................... Since the time he was born to the present time eddie always had a passion for music. Having two older brothers in the household, eddie couldn’t help but stumble upon record or cassette. Growing up in the early eighties in a neighborhood which outskirted the streets of southwest philadelphia, he became custom to the sound of the streets, the style and the beats. His one brother an avid music collector, and the other a well known artist. These were the elements and the blood that flew through the veins of his family. It was around him and drew him to hiphop music. Eddie grew a love of breakdancing and the music that made you do it. He collected track after track, and recorded radio mix after mix. Listening to Lady B, Colby Colb, Jazzy Jeff, Cashmoney and others. Where the music was changing and so were the people, Dance music came into play from first experiencing Rock-it from Herbie Hancock, to Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, which continued to be sampled creating a sound called freestyle dance music. Still at a teenager he was determined to collect and grew a passion for this electronic sound. In the nineties dancing in clubs he soon noticing how the Dj controlled the mood, he became hypnotized how they set the tone for this atmosphere. By this time having an excessive amount of music and at an age where he understood the mechanics of the art, he then picked up a pair of turntables and start creating mixtapes, from here the music became stronger, more complex and into a world of house music. Through the change of technology and again music, he was still thirsty for music, absorbing more and more of it, establishing guest spots and residencies throughout Philadelphia and New York City. Creating his own style of eclectic vibes but still rooting to his child days of that classic hip-hop sound. Today Dj Eddie Stank continues his love for the music and presently plays in Philadelphia, and operating this site for those to see and hear what he does with the sounds that impacted him for more than a decade.
